Transferrable skills

Problem solving

This skill will not only help people to identify a problem while they are at their work in any company, but it also helps to find out the cause of the problem and possible solution to implement to solve the problem. Having this skill will certainly impress the employer as it helps to boost the company's image towards the public.

I was able to acquire this particular skill when I worked as a chef back in Sydney. It took me quite a bit of a time to master this skills as it was very difficult to overcome any problem when the service was very busy. During the time when issues occurred I once mastered this skill, was able to easily think quickly to provide the most suitable solution and minimize loss.

This skill will definitely be useful in my IT related career. Problems are very frequent in IT support role. Therefore being able to quickly identify the problem and implement the solution will be able to help me grow in my career.

Leadership

When it comes to leadership skills,, it not only means that you can supervise and manage a team but it also include the ability to take a lead on a shared tasks and accomplish it to achieve a common goal.

I was able to gain this skill during the six month project in the final semester of my Bachelors Degree. I was a product owner/ manager of our project and I was responsible to guide my team towards the accomplishment of the project by strictly following the guidelines given by the investor.

When it comes to the importance of this particular skill in my IT related job such as IT support officer, this holds a very important role. I can easily apply this skill to take  lead in any project that comes during the tenure of my job and provide the best result to the company.

Team work

This is another skill which means working together as a part of the team to achieve a common goal. Actively contributing to the team rather than just being in the team are two different scenario. Employers always want someone who is motivated to help other member of the company.

I was able to acquire this skill when I worked as a chef. There are different sections in a big kitchen and there are several people assigned in each section. Sometimes when one section is busy while the other is slow. During that situation I would jump up to the busy section and give a hand to finish the orders in the short amount of time to minimize wait time for the customers.

In the similar manner I can implement this skill in my IT support officer role as well. My skills might be useful to some other staffs of a different section in case of a problem. In that case working as a team might help to achieve a common organizational goal.
